Our Leadership

Mack McGhee
Principal
At the age of 19, while at a New Year’s Eve Party on Chicago’s South Side, Mack McGhee reawoke to a life forever changed. Mack had been attacked, abruptly knocked to the ground by an overwhelming blunt force. Assailed by surprise, assaulted at random, he suffered three blows to the head and face with the clawed side of a hammer, requiring 36 stitches to his face and head. Surviving such brutal trauma transformed him: Mack gained a heightened zeal for purposeful living.
Determined to make something out of his life, he worked diligently as a student at Illinois State University & Governors State University where he successfully completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. He continued on to complete a Master of Arts in Political and Justice Studies by the age of 24. Finding a transformative sense of purpose at a young age inspires Mack to use his gifts to reach young people. He has worked tirelessly over the past 28 years, dedicated to the goal of empowering, encouraging and motivating youth and individuals to succeed — no matter their circumstance.
Mack has served numerous child welfare, human services, correctional & educational agencies in the State of Illinois including Administrator at Aunt Martha’s Youth Service, Deputy Director at Youth Outreach Services, Corrections Administrator for TASC, Inc./Illinois Department of Corrections Sheridan Program, Director of Training for Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, Dean of Students for Urban Prep Charter School for Boys, Superintendent of New Beginnings Youth Development Center in Washington D.C., Chief of Secure Program for Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services for Washington D.C.

During that time Mack was instrumental in helping the agency exit a 35 year old Consent Decree.
Through such a dynamic and diversified career path, Mack McGhee has emerged as a recognized expert on youth. He is a consultant in this area and has worked with universities and agencies on numerous research-based projects that focus on children and youth.
